On April 21, 2026, the community of Purok 1 Proper in Mandaing, Cabanglasan witnessed a historic moment as it became the first sitio to hold a Ceremonial Energization under the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) 2025. While other sitios had already been energized earlier, this event marked the official ceremonial kick‑off of the program, symbolizing the start of electrification across 38 sitios in 10 districts within BUSECO’s coverage area.
Ceremonial energizations are vital in government projects because they serve as formal documentation of project completion, provide the basis for liquidation and accountability of funds, and highlight transparency in the use of public resources. They also allow communities to celebrate progress together, turning technical achievements into shared milestones that strengthen trust between the government, cooperatives, and local partners.
Electricity is more than just light, it is a pathway to education, livelihood, safety, and community growth. With energized homes, children can study at night, families can live more securely, and communities can pursue small enterprises that depend on reliable power. The Sitio Electrification Program, funded by the national government through the National Electrification Administration (NEA), embodies this promise of inclusive development.
The SEP was supported by an approximate allocation of ₱59 million under the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA). This funding covered not only the installation of distribution lines such as poles and electric wires, but also included household electrical wiring for beneficiary homes, ensuring that families could immediately and safely use electricity upon energization.
Through this program, 38 sitios were energized, benefitting a total of 1,126 households. Each energized sitio represents a step toward bridging the gap between urban centers and rural communities, ensuring that no Filipino household is left behind in the journey toward electrification.
The ceremonial energization in Mandaing honored the resilience of the people and the dedication of BUSECO’s linemen, engineers, and community partners. It also underscored the strong collaboration between the national government, BUSECO, and local government units, a partnership that continues to drive rural electrification forward.
This is history. This is hope switched on. And many more sitios will follow as SEP 2025 unfolds across BUSECO’s districts.
